Obnoxious Cxxt is a piece about judgement, conflict and the uncomfortable possibility that the thing you see in someone else might also exist in you.
The word itself is confrontational. The colours are too.
Aggressive pink sits against fluorescent mellow yellow, while toxic green rain cuts across the image and adds another layer of tension.
The composition is deliberately awkward and conflicting. It is supposed to feel a little obnoxious.
The artwork can also be viewed from different directions, playing with perspective and the idea that where you stand changes what you see.
Underneath the humour and provocation, there is a more reflective question:
How quick are we to judge someone else’s behaviour without looking at our own?
On the wall, it is bold, loud and impossible to ignore — a statement piece for anyone drawn to contemporary art with humour, attitude and a bit of discomfort built in.
