Unmasking ZeTrunk
Find out more about the man behind the ART...
Have you ever felt like you couldn’t express yourself—like your voice wasn’t being heard?
Feeling misunderstood and questioning my own reflection — am I a victim of others judgement or am I hiding behind a mask, why am I afraid ?
I grew up in the 80s and 90s in the brutalist concrete “jungle” of Thamesmead, south-east London. Tower blocks, cold and grey, stretched into mazes of geometry and shadowed platforms where danger lurked. As a child, drawing and coloring brought me joy. But over time, I conformed to society’s expectations, and my creativity fell silent.
Decades later, a surreal encounter with what seemed like an angel shattered my sense of self.
Forced to confront my value, my perception, and my purpose, I searched into the infinite space of my mind for answers - to find my voice of expression.
Equal doses of doubt and excitement come and go in a heart beat. My ideas pulse by the second, only to be choked by fear or self-doubt.
Fuck it ! - I’ll do it anyway and my suppression transforms into art. It’s a cryptic confused conflict which slowly softens to a intermittent befuddlement. Each cycle of events has its cost... I begin to laugh at myself and enjoy the process.
Now, I am ready to grow young again and nothing feels impossible. Art is a channel of communication where I can explore my radio frequency of emotions. This is where I belong I tell myself.
My work is colourful, a pop art - type of advertisement using bold shapes, words and symbols that brand my thoughts and emotions.
Everyone deserves the freedom to express themselves. If your talking to yourself recognise the green-eyed monsters, ignore the negativity and keep moving forward.
